I just installed them 01/09/16 I read the reviews, this is the second pair I've bought, I had no problems with the first pair, they been on a honda shadow 1995 vt 1100 cc wore them for 2 years so i bought them they seem to scratch easily but what chrome doesn't do today, chrome plating processes aren't what they used to be when they peel off it is maybe not quite chromed. But chrome spray paint so they break or scratch easily, all I know is they are comfortable, you don't have to stick your fingers out like you do with them. They are polished aluminum under chrome if you don't feel like spending money on them there is another product on Amazon for only 18.00 and some modifications
