Review on πŸ”§ American Standard 028610-0070A Cartridge: Black, High-Quality Replacement Part by Mike Messerly

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Assembly required for faucet parts

Luckily I had my old cartridge to use as a guide to assembling the various loose parts. Unless you frequently replace cartridges without flushing, reassembly can be a trial and error process. There are no instructions, so you'll have to go online or elsewhere to find out how to change the cartridge to the hot (left) or cold (right) side. You would think the kit might come with a one page diagram but I suspect this cartridge is for the installer who probably already knows how to assemble the parts and install them hot or cold. I replaced the cartridge due to a slight drip. Inspection of the old unit showed me the problem was a tiny crack in the o-ring at the bottom of the cartridge. I found replacing this very cheap o-ring also solved the problem. A set of Revain cartridges costs less than fifteen dollars. If you replace it yourself, you've probably saved over $100 and you don't have to wait for a plumber.
