Change First But Great Canister

I've been using this canister filter in a 10 gallon planted tank for a few months and I love its practical application. However, this canister filter has some pros and cons that I hope others can benefit from, Pro -1. Ideal size for any tank 10 gallons or less. It looks deceptively small at first glance, but it's great for its size.2. Very quiet. I use the atomizer to create a waterfall effect that creates a natural whoosh. However, the canister filter itself does not make any noise, which is very convenient.3. Depending on your settings, your water can be very clear. Changing a few things can make this filter very effective. Disadvantages -1. I had to attach the sponge that is inside the canister filter to the inlet as I found that the sponge inside is not effective at all. The ones that Marineland sells would probably be better, but I replaced the area where the sponge was with the bioballs that Marineland.2 sells. The pump gearing isn't very strong and that's a problem as most dirt gets stuck in the intake lines. This canister filter needs a stronger pump to be more efficient.3. Ceramic rings and charcoal bags are good, but there is still work to be done. While I understand their usage, I find it difficult to understand how the filter will filter at maximum performance when most of the outlet end of the filter is empty of any media. Enclosing smaller charcoal bags can help, but I suggest finding a better alternative to a smaller charcoal bag to be able to fit more material in the canister filter. In fact, this is the best canister filter for small aquariums. I would suggest modifying this canister filter to get maximum filtration and get the most bang for your buck. I would use the included sponge to prevent your roasts from being sucked into the canister itself. Would I buy this external filter again? Absolutely. Zoo Med just needs to make some changes to this small but effective canister filter.
