As for acids, this is an interesting combination of mandelic, lactic and salicylic acids. My otherwise dry skin does not like strong acids. Lactic acid is the mildest of the three, followed by madelinic acid and then salicylic acid. These are not Stridex pads (just salicylic acid). I find them good for casual use in lieu of my retinol nights. I have dry skin, and while it's generally clear, sometimes overdoing it with moisturizers can cause it to build up. Skin care groups recommend using AHA/BHA and this combination should do everything from skin cell renewal to pore cleansing. I'm in my 40's so helping with skin cell renewal is a good thing. The formula seems strong. It may sting a little, but then it goes away. Sometimes stinging is more likely when applied to a damp face rather than a completely dry face. So play around with it in case you have a burning sensation that you find unbearable. Apply a good moisturizer and of course use SPF. I LOVE that the product is strong and I know my skin feels better when I use it no more than 2 times a week. Some people might do this more often, but if you're new to this, start small and work your way up. The instructions say to wipe your face and blot it excessively. My goal is to gently dab the cotton swab over my face long enough to distribute the product. I'm looking for application of product more than picking up leftovers after washing. On the other hand, I find the pad too rough. The only thing I don't like about this product is the delivery system. Cotton pads are a bit rough on my face. I have used other circles soaked in the product and they have been softer and more delicate. There is no need for a rough cotton pad when the acids are already exfoliating the skin. Neither physical peeling (coarse cotton) nor chemical peeling (acids/Aha) is required. If it's used elsewhere - elbows, toes, even the chest area, then I don't mind. But for my face? too coarse. Also, if you are looking for a convenient way to get the three types of acids on your face, then this is a legitimate product. Everyone has different preferences and our skin reacts differently. Lots of trial and error. While not ideal for me, I find their products worthwhile.
