Okay, I read a lot of reviews but despite "Yes, it's a hose clamp, just buy a hose clamp" I bought it. No, it's not just a collar. Use standard screwdriver to install/remove clamps. A special key is used for installation and removal. Not the easiest of installs, but I limited the one handed use and installed it in about 10 minutes at 11pm in the dark. I have a tailgate with an automatic latch, but it's easy to pry open with a screwdriver, which can also be used to remove the clamp. Can you win? May be. Will it hold them back or slow them down? Definitive. A replacement tailgate for my truck costs over $4000, my deductible is only $100 but it was $20. Well, the cost of a hamburger and a beer. For those complaining about the size of the key, buy a 99-cent pack and throw it in the glove box. I put mine in a bag with a 1/4" ratchet and wheel lock slot in a lockable glove box. Buy it or not, if you go to your trunk without a truck you'll be mad you didn't get $20 and $10 Spend minutes to prevent this.
