We have six cats and three large litter boxes. We usually use Tidy Cat for several unscented cats and having used up this expensive Pidan litter in record time I can safely say that we humans and cats prefer Tidy Cat. It's a shame really, because I like the idea of a dust-free litter that's more environmentally friendly. But I can't afford it. This can be a great litter if you really need a washable litter and only have a cat or two, but it's not for us. We were given four 5.3lb bags and immediately realized that it needed two bags in one box to do more than just cover. floor and prevent cats from accidentally dropping the box. Even then it wasn't enough. We don't use huge boxes. They are normal - not small, but not huge. Medium, like what you buy at Target or Walmart. We ended up putting three bags in a box to give the cats enough sand to burrow in and were immediately dissatisfied because this litter is quite expensive. Four packs cost almost exactly three times the price of a 35-pound bucket of Tidy Cat at Walmart. That meant it got too wet in less than a week, although we took extra care to keep it clean. We added a fourth pocket in just four days. In fact, using this filler would be beyond our budget - we eat three buckets of Tidy Cat a month for the same amount of money. We were lucky it took a full week before it got too dirty and smelly. But in the filler's defense, if you need to rinse it off, it works. If you only have a cat or two, this will hold up better than ours. It would also be great for a kitten. And if you have a cat with respiratory problems, that would be a good idea. I try my best to protect this litter because I have had other types of pidan litter that I am very happy with. I would buy from Pidan again, just not this fountain pen.
