Overview: A long and tedious setup, but once it's done the PSPgo is fantastic, especially if you love classic PlaystationONE games. The instructions help ease some of the painful settings-1. SOFTWARE FOR WINDOWS ONLY. It's hard to believe that in 2011 there are still companies that can't make Mac software, but it's not a deal breaker as long as you have a Windows computer to install the MediaGo.2 software on . THE MEDIAGO APPLICATION WILL NOT BE INSTALLED. It tries to install Quicktime 7.6, but if you already have Quicktime installed, the program hangs. Go to Control Panel: and uninstall Quicktime 7.7, then run the MediaGo installer. Once installed, go to the Apple Software Update app and reinstall the latest version of Quicktime.3. PSP CANNOT USE WPA2 ENCRYPTION. WPA2 has been the default encryption standard for wireless routers since around 2007. Now every router has WPA2 by default, but the PSP can't use it! The PSP can only use the old WPA. Many routers now have a mode that allows dual WPA/WPA2, so if you can, you can enable it. If, like me, you have a router that doesn't have this mode, then you're out of luck. I ended up unplugging and plugging in my old router to create a second wireless network just for my PSP.4. YOU CANNOT SIGN UP FOR A NEW SONY PLAYSTATION NETWORK ACCOUNT. You need a Sony Playstation Network account to purchase games. However, if you follow the instructions on the box and on the Sony website and try to register, you will be redirected to a Sony web page saying the network is down and you can try again later. THAT'S A LIE. Sony no longer deals with the registration of new users. To register you need to visit [.] - register a new account there and then use that login to log into the Sony Playstation Network.5. GAME LOADING MAY BE SLOW. This doesn't always happen, but sometimes it takes forever to load. Frustrating because it's the ONLY way to put games on this thing, but it's not fun to say "I want it!" and then get a "Three hours to download" message. USING YOUR CREDIT CARD ON THE PLAYSTATION NETWORK WILL RESULT IN A FRAUD ALERT. Due to the recent problems with the hacking of the Sony Playstation network, credit card companies are on the lookout for cards being used fraudulently. After my first two purchases from the Playstation Online Store, my credit card was blocked. I had to call my credit card company to let them know I was using the card and they unblocked it. THE MEDIAGO SOFTWARE IS NOT VERY USER-FRIENDLY. Serious Sony. Everyone is used to using Apple iTunes or Microsoft Windows Media Player. Copy one of these and don't try to reinvent the wheel. Total installation time including PSPgo update: five hours. What about the results? Wonderful. If you're a fan of old PlaystationONE games like me, you can pick up dozens of classic games for between $6 and $10 each. And the sleek hardware of the PSPgo makes it look stunning. And with the release of the PSP Vita early next year, prices dropped and the PSPgo became the ultimate classic portable gaming system. It's nice to have a dedicated gaming device to complement the iPhone. I wish it was easier to install but other than that I am very happy with my PSPgo.
