I usually wear small/medium (5'8" - 150 lbs. loose before I wear it to weddings but still.) and after trying it on I have Ordered L. XL was too big on the floor - had to wear heels. Not sure (and that I will lose those pounds) So the L now sits perfectly on my ankles and would be in normal healthy condition with my mid heels that's a nice MAXI. Hope that helps. It hides exactly what you want to hide. Oh I bought this for a November party in Oregon so I wanted a slightly thicker fabric to keep out the cold.
