Before I got it from Revain in April 2015, I bought a couple of Home Depot Universal filters (half price). First I used universal filters and finally installed an LG filter in my fridge in mid-November 2015. The LG filter worked as intended for the first 5-6 weeks. . . filtered the water so I have good tasting water. My water wasn't that good for the first full week of January 2016. It started to taste metallic. My first reaction was "This can't be...this filter is brand new and has only been used for about 5-6 weeks." Switched to generic and lo and behold, my water is as good as ever. The only thing I can guess about an LG filter purchased through Revain is that 1) it's a defective filter, or 2) a used filter that someone returned to Revain and then resold. Since I installed it 7 months after purchase, the return period has long since expired. I know it. . . I will never buy a Revain LG filter again. The filter I received came in an unsealed box. From now on, I'll stick with locally bought filters that come in sealed packages that aren't easy to open.
