IMPORTANT: The thermostat is NOT reverse numbered.

I am posting this review primarily to refute another reviewer's erroneous claim which may be causing confusion and dissatisfaction with the heater. In fact, *I* read his complaint before receiving my heater and then started running the heater accordingly. until I learned that while his wrong conclusions were understandable, 1) they were simply wrong and 2) real heating quirks would back up that wrong conclusion and you may never realize that despite disappointment you acted on wrong assumptions. with heating operation. until you've done some real testing, esp. with a meter. See, his claim is that the thermostat is illogically numbered backwards (i.e. lower numbers = higher temperature settings, higher numbers = lower temperature settings). This statement is supported by the bizarre, misleading behavior of the LED display when the heater is operated at the "MIN" power level. Regardless of the "MIN" setting on the power controller, the LED display will change to "MED" (assuming increased heating operation) as you lower the thermostat to lower numbers, and return to "MIN" when you turn it on. Thermostat to higher values (assuming reduced heating operation). This is the main observation that leads to the idea that the thermostat can be numbered backwards. Which in turn led to the frustrating experience of the heater being too hot and unable to generate and maintain a lower temperature even on the lowest thermostat setting. which you think has the highest values. It's all wrong. What I've found in instrumental testing (using the Kill-A-Watt P2) is that the thermostat numbers are really intuitive (i.e. lower numbers = lower temperature settings, higher numbers = higher temperature settings). What happens is that at the "MIN" power level (and only at the "MIN" power level) the behavior of the LED is abnormal and corresponds to the *opposite* action of the heater (i.e. going from "MIN" to "MED", does this actually indicate the heater is no longer heating; if it goes from "MED" to "MIN" this actually indicates the heater is heating). Simply put: at all power levels. You'll find the one held Temperature too high. Turn to a lower number. If you find the temperature being held is too low. Turn to a higher number. Just ignore what the LED display is doing when you press the "MIN" - set power.
