We have 5 cats and four litter boxes and my arthritis made it difficult and painful to keep them clean. We had a small metal shovel that was very good, but the handle wasn't long enough to prevent painful bending over. I wasn't sure if the new shovel's handle would be long enough, but it turned out to be perfect. This scoop is part of a three-part system that made cleaning multiple boxes an easy task for us, and I want to share that system with you. First, we're going to use Tidy Cat Light Putty now. which is far easier to work with than any other filler we've tried. However, it does have one downside: it's so light that it will cling to small cats' paws and leave marks on the floor, requiring frequent sweeping or vacuuming. However, we believe that the advantages outweigh this disadvantage. Second, we found the perfect-sized little trash can for Walmart plastic bags, which has little buttons on the ends to keep the bag handles in place. All I have to do is attach a double pocket and it is held in place making it easy for me to toss the shovel in. This eliminates the need to hold bags with one hand while trying to pick them up with the other. We use a trash can, but any frame will suffice to hold the bags in place. This new blade works great with this system. What used to take 30 minutes now takes about 5 pain-free minutes. Highly recommended.
