I already have 3 of these devices and needed a fourth for the same application. The units (new original spare parts) I received did not work in my application (no power). I have two Raspberry Pis running from the same hub model. The older units (two of which were bought from the same source last year) have enough power to power the Pi, a 2TB WD My Passport and network connection, and a USB stick. This saves space, costs and the need for an additional socket. The USB to Micro USB cable connects to one of the four ports and the other end to the Pi for power. The USB cable plugs into one of the USB ports on the Pi. The old ones work perfectly. Unfortunately, when the new box was used in the same application, the hub would not turn on or turn on the Pi (even without anything else - with a 2TB drive, for example). After struggling to take the 2nd item, I was offered to deduct the shipping cost of the 2nd, but only found out after placing an order for $100+ including another USB hub at a higher price had, since no exchanges or credits were allowed.
