I bought this to replace a Cisco DPC3939 modem (built in wi-fi router) leased from Comcast for a triple play plan. The Cisco rental worked excellently with 130 Mbit/s D/L and 13 Mbit/s upload and a large range in dual-band WiFi. Only did it to avoid $8 a month. I followed the following setup instructions to get everything up and running in 15 minutes: 1. Disconnect the old Cisco. Install the supplied battery in the new modem.2. Connect the Comcast coaxial cable, the phone to the Tel-1 jack and the power cable to the modem.3. Connect the laptop to the modem using the supplied Ethernet (network) cable.4. Moved to enable Comcast online via browser on laptop. (You can google "comcast activate" if you don't know the Comcast activation URL). [Note: Internet is currently not working except Comcast activation URL] 5. Authentication was the first step to activate Comcast. The website requested a Comcast account number and phone number in a Comcast file. That was pretty much the only information I had to provide. !I had internet and my phone was working fine 7. Disconnected my laptop's network connection from the modem and connected my Wi-Fi router to the new modem Turn on both the model and the Wi-Fi router. !Note: I didn't have to do anything to activate the phone. The price of this modem is the only downside [to my knowledge]. I can't complain. I wish the Cisco DPC3939 was commercially available. booked up.
