Board looks better than new!

Well we've had the Boos board for a few years now and I still haven't found mineral oil for it. It still looked good, just dried out more than a little. I finally picked up some Boos brand oil. Since the board hasn't been treated since it was new, I gave it some coats. The first layer was admittedly generous. Not so much that it spills all over the counter, but enough that the board has a distinctly wet look (no puddles). I left the board for a few hours before returning to erase the excess - and there was nothing. I gave the board another day to soak in the oil and then sanded it again, this time with less oil, only waiting about an hour between applying the oil and wiping off the excess. Also this time there was nothing extra. The board looked great. If you look at the edges you can see a big difference where the oil has soaked in and where the wood is still dry. The next day I started the same process on the other side of the board. I have since treated the board again, about a month after the first treatment. Not only is this oil of great importance for the appearance of the record, but it even seems easier to clean. The water does not penetrate as far when washing off, so it dries faster. Although the bottle says the oil should sit for five minutes, I've found that most of the oil penetrates our few inch thick block if left for an hour or two. I've heard that for thicker blocks of 4" to 6" or more, it's better to leave it overnight.
