Greetings. Before writing this review I wanted to run this filter in real life conditions to convince myself of its effectiveness as a turtle canister filter as I read some reviews here from disgruntled potential turtle owners who were not happy with this filter. This filter works great! I have a couple of yearling snappers, both have about 6 inch shells. Bass are carnivores and can be messy at times so I use a small net to remove any leftover debris after feeding them. In combination with a filter, this helps a lot. - TAKE TIME to keep water clean and odor free. The tank I keep them in holds about 30 gallons of water, and I also periodically add a little ammonia remover to the water when I top off the evaporated water. Another important thing is that once a month I do a filter, water and a full tank cleaning.To be honest, turtles are dirty animals, but they can be kept in order with minimal effort if you have the patience to look after theirs Needs to be taken care of. Of course, that goes for most pets. My reviews of this product speak for themselves.
