The spikes are for the cat to step on I don't think so that she liked them, although some cats might not like that! It's awkward to kneel them down when you pick up a box! If you try to add a few more, all the pieces won't fasten properly, not to mention that they don't really catch much more dirt than other rugs.Hand these over
