Review on Lead-Free Electrical Rosin Core Solder - Flo-Temp (21945) by Joe Griggs

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Made in Mexico, not the USA! Works fine at best.

I've been soldering since I was 10 (ie 25 years old) and learned it from my father's employee. We made computer parts, terminals and repaired everything related to the computer industry (you have to remember that at this point we were BUILT and manufacturing all the computers here in the States and THAT'S what we did). The solder does not contain lead. Lead makes solder "sticky". If you remove it, the stick will be removed. Maybe I'm stubborn or stubborn. Silver solder works, but it takes 2-3 times longer to get the job done and even more four letter words and frustrations. Oh, and the important part. The label says Made in USA. But the box says Product of Mexico, and after calling the company, yes, it's made in Mexico but wound on smaller spools in the US. The US has 19 employees, while Mexico, she said, could have 100 employees. Why? I asked too. She said they are not required to comply with health and safety laws in Mexico. So it's probably for the best that they don't do it here, but I think the folks at the factory in Mexico probably prefer the safety information to be in Spanish so they realize they're giving their only life for a few pesos shorten. So basically I probably won't buy this stuff again. I would advise everyone against it. But hey, we love cheap stuff, and if we don't see it, it doesn't matter if it's made with children's blood.
