I have had my soft Miele C3 carpet for a few years. My car was originally equipped with an electric headlight - SEB228, which has the same functions as this SEB236, except for the LED headlight. After five years of almost 3-4 cleanings a week my old bait has seen better days. While I initially planned on simply replacing it with the same model, I found that the SEB236 Premium is only $60 more; I also thought the lighted front would be handy for getting under beds and other places with limited visibility. So I bought this model and encountered some frustrating performance issues. I received the SEB236 today and got to work straight away. I didn't notice this when cleaning, but then I noticed that this head washes more aggressively than my old SEB228. This powerful brush has repeatedly pulled the fluff out of the carpet structure on my entire carpet. And that despite correct height adjustment depending on the thickness of my carpet. When I compared the 236 brushroll to one of my old 228s (I swapped out the brush about 6 months ago - for a lot of money - should have just bought a new one back then) there is a definite difference in the texture and stiffness of the bristles. The 236 has MUCH stiffer bristles. This, along with the high speed of the "hacker", was enough to damage my carpet. Another difference is of course the height adjustment pedal. I have found the Model 228 Irrigation Pedal to be MUCH EASIER to use than the Model 236 Irrigation Pedal because the pedal protrudes from the body on this model. The 236 has the pedal integrated and flush with the back of the unit. If like me you vacuum and wear socks this can be a little tricky as your foot can slip off trying to adjust the height. This can be a matter of personal preference, but keep this in mind when making your decision. Finally, unlike previous Miele components, this brush was made in Poland, not Germany. This wasn't meant to be a deal breaker, but it's worth noting that I read several reviews stating that this brush head is still made in Germany. This does not apply to ongoing production or at least the item I received. I've never owned a SEB236 from Germany, so I don't have an apples-to-apples benchmark for any particular model. In summary, the SEB228 is $60 cheaper and probably a more efficient and easier-to-use brush. Chapter. It's just missing a head light. The SEB228 has been around for many years, is still made in Germany by Wessel Werk (for Miele) and is powerful yet soft enough to be used on carpeted floors. Its slightly softer brush texture does a good job of removing dirt without ruining your carpet. SEB236 is a good attempt to differentiate the product, but it turned out to be too aggressive.
