Review on Monoprice VGA UTP Extender Audio by Carrie Johnson

Great for long distance video/audio transmission

I have a recording studio at home. I have a monitor that I use for mixing and editing. But when I'm recording drum tracks I need a monitor nearby so I can see what and where I'm recording. Before this product I had to extend my monitor's extension arm to at least see as much as possible, tempo and time and controls when I'm hitting a record. But with this little gem, I can freely remove my monitor from my PC. It's awesome. If I want to mix/edit something, I just put the monitor back on the workstation next to the PC. And if I need to record drums, I can put it next to the drums again. There is also a pass-through for stereo sound. This means you can connect an audio source to the transmitter and connect the monitor's speaker to the audio from the receiver. INCLUDED IN DELIVERY: Transceiver, power supply (2) mounting brackets for the transmitter. Instructions. NOT INCLUDED: Category 5 or 6 cable, VGA monitor cable (2) I can climb up to 300 meters with this device! That's incredible! I am going to buy a very long cable for my studio. It has been tested with a 10ft cable and it works great. This unit supports resolutions up to 1900 x 1200. When everything is connected you MUST adjust the gain of the monitor signal by adjusting the gain and peak controls on the receiver. Depending on the length of cable you use, you may need to make adjustments. And you have to press "Auto" on your monitor for the picture to be adjusted properly. This is a fantastic solution for those who need to transmit video and audio over a distance without a thick, bulky VGA cable. Using a Cat5 or 6 cable is awesome. Smaller and easier to hide
