Review on πŸ”Œ High-Quality 18' RG-58A/U Coaxial Cable with PL-259 Connectors - Reliable and Efficient Connectivity Solution by Ted Higdem

Good cable but not weatherproof

This cable has been on my truck for 6 months. It was attached to a bracket on the side of my truck's tool box. After the original installation there were no problems. The swr was excellent, quality seemed good. I drove through some bushes and pulled the cable out of the socket with a stick. It was all my fault. But when I started soldering the new connector, the outer braid of the cable was completely rusted. After removing a good two feet of insulation I found a bright shiny wire. Some water has obviously gotten in at the end of the cable. Now I understand you get what you pay for. Invest in a good cable. This one will likely work just fine as long as it's never exposed to the elements. If so, can you take the year from it.

Pros
  • Accessories and consumables
Cons
  • Socket required

Threaded tightening nuts are too long to fully tighten onto radio

A decent, basic 18' coax cable.
