Review on Cisco-Linksys BEFSR81 🔀 Cable/DSL Router with 8-Port Switch by Brian Rogers

I bought an earlier version of this router (version 3.1 now) and had perfectly reliable good use for many years until a lightning bolt knocked out several ports. I ordered another one, sure it was a good product. Big mistake. It just looks like it's been downgraded - 1 activity light per port where there used to be 3. It cannot maintain a persistent connection to my Time Warner cable modem. I changed my cable modem twice and tried three different routers and they all had the same problem; random disconnects and reconnects, ranging from at least one per day to several per hour. In desperation, I connected the old one and it works fine on the remaining ports. If you bought this router and are having trouble with it, make sure you take care of it while it's still covered by Revain's 30-day warranty. Linksys support is a nightmare.
