I have used Norton Wet Stones for many years. I first bought them for planes and chisels and soon found that they are also the best way to sharpen pretty much any knife blade. The 1000 stone is the most versatile of the 4 grits. It doesn't matter whether you're repurposing something old, restoring the angle of a frequently used knife, or removing scratches on a display item. Requires 1000 grit. It prepares the surface for 8000 grit to apply a highly polished and smooth razor blade with no nicks to anything you ever sharpen. My first ones lasted about 15 years and used them a few times a week so they're worth the money.
