Cotton is not stain resistant.
I find this cotton to be a great way to remove nail polish. The reason I didn't really like it is because of the packaging. It's very easy to get infected from someone who opens the box before they get to you. The box is not sealed and the cotton is not protected from contamination. Because of this, I don't recommend removing makeup or mascara when taking care of these things.
