This will likely work well for most dogs. However, our 50-pound pit bull pulled it right out of the ground as it ran toward a nearby dog. The leash she was on was 20 feet long so our dog had good exercise. I think this will work great for smaller dogs or dogs that don't have as much strength. Seems really solid and it landed firmly in the ground. Not right enough. Since then we've used it (both in the grass in the yard and in the mud) and she hasn't pulled it out again, but she hasn't run away either.
