I was concerned it would not fit my very skinny 8 year old. But he adjusts well and he can figure out how loose or tight he wants it. He finds it comfortable. He has something called Ozgood Schlatter (sp?). It is associated with growing pains and development of the knee in some children. It comes and goes during growth spurts. He is very fond of sports and running, but when his knee started hurting and the doctor told him not to run if it was going on and gave him a specific diagnosis, he began hesitating to even participate - for fear that his knee would be injured. It was a disaster - the child went from very active to very immobile. I really felt like he would feel better if he had some kind of support around his knee if he went there and at least tried, although the doctor said a knee brace wouldn't help. Sometimes we all just need a small protective blanket or knee brace. In this case I was right. He put it on and got up. Now, with activity, he intervenes immediately and since then we have not heard any complaints. I explained to him that it wouldn't completely eliminate the pain (so he'd still get the Ozgood Schlatter), but it would handle a lot of it. It saved a life.
