I suppose they may work if you add laces, but the little flimsy velcro strip is rubbish. You stay on nothing. I can't imagine what they would be like if actually played with, but even with the new velcro that nothing sticks to, they just fall off. My 3 year old loves the rainbow, it's his "favorite color" so we bought him some rainbow stuff. These were by far the most disappointing shoes I've ever bought in my 7 years as a dad. If you buy these, you have to reckon with the fact that you will also need shoelaces for them.
