Review on 🖌️ Faber-Castell Gelatos Pastels Color Set - 15 Pastel Colors for Versatile Art Projects by Michelle Langley

The Queen of the Gelatos Fan Club is here for another review of these charming, versatile pigments. This box contains twelve different pastel colors that are really DELICIOUS! Inspired by French macaroons, this line's colors include Coconut, Buttercream, Aqua Dolce, Watermelon, Guava, Peach, Count Gray, Caramel, Kiwi, Fig, Elderberry and Strawberry. As with other sets, I can't just pick one favorite. I have a few that I use more often, some MUCH more often, but I don't want to give up any of these precious pastels. Design Memory Craft keeps surpassing themselves with these amazing wands! The consistency is like a velvety lipstick - you control whether they saturate the base and leave a smooth, vibrant, colorful finish. /faded appearance.or something in between! It doesn't take long to create a really cool thing, especially when you add water. With the included brush and some water, you can spread these delicious creams on your project with incredible ease. Adding a little water just turns them into luscious watercolors, and adding more water allows you to achieve the "blurred" look that's so popular these days. (Check out the photo of the house I took with the Brights set. This is the same unfinished project that I keep adding to my reviews, but I don't seem to remember taking photos of any other projects Thanks I'm getting old! Grrr) I love the brush Faber Castell chose for the 15 piece sets. I think it's perfect - which is oddly awesome as I usually find the free brushes that come with art supplies to be utter rubbish. Surprisingly, this is my VERY favorite brush and I use it for everything, not just gelatos. The clear handle looks cool, fits my hand like it was custom made, is shorter than the Gajillion brushes I already have (easier to use) and the white bristles... oh those white bristles! They scoop the perfect amount of water for gelatos. They lay down gelatos with amazing awesomeness. (That's my official technical term.) Since gelatos have a creamy texture, it would be easy to tell if the medium at the tip of the brush (from the clip) got completely dirty, but miraculously it wasn't. hair does not fall out. The bristles are neither too soft nor too hard and absorb neither too much nor too little water. Goldilocks would definitely agree. Brush. stones! wood, canvas, paper. Gelatos works on many substrates. Metal and glass are the only two things I don't think will work - and yet, even ruling out those two things, do you have any idea how many substrate options you have left?!? You also have many options when applying to the substrate. Cut some off, put it and some water in a spray bottle and spray on your project. Apply directly via the applicator. Use a brush. Use a wet brush. Use a cotton swab. Questionable. your finger. palette knife. Dauber. Sponge. I'm sure you get the idea. Oh, and they also come with two sponge wedges (like makeup applicators) - one soft and one hard. I'm so in love! The working fixative seems to hold them in place, although I have to say I didn't notice any color change when I added another wet medium AFTER DRYING COMPLETELY. I also like to use a combination of clear plaster and clear coat (in a thin coat) to make sure everything stays the same on the previous coat while I add some tooth to the new coat. Did I mention gelatos are also acid-free? Portable? Great to mix or layer? Oh yeah! This is my new favorite, which says a lot. (My house is like a cross between Hobby Lobby, Michael, and Dick Bleek combined. But only because I need the square footage of all three of these stores to properly store all my supplies!) If you're new to arts and crafts, or you been long enough to see all sorts of products come and go, you can easily find a use for them. The effects you can create are truly endless, especially once you start adding water to the equation. Easy to use, rich color to use on paper, wood, canvas etc. (house on birch board), countless uses. I get goosebumps just thinking about the creamy, colorful fun packed into this box of velvety chopsticks! Desirably available in a variety of combinations - a few colors come in sets of 2, there are many different color combinations in four packs (each with a brush), sets of 15 themed sticks (pastel, metallic, bright, etc.), a set of 23 double spoons (double spoons are about twice the size of regular chopsticks) and several additional gift sets. You can get a good idea of how great they are in 4 packs - they're more than enough to play with (depending on quantity) and cost around $10. You also get a 'free' brush - although brushes vary, many of the new 4 sets include one of the great brushes I talked about earlier. Wahoo! Try them, I think you will like them!
