I bought this router because my previous router, an older Netgear, started losing our internet connection over our wifi. The old router was 5-6 years old so I thought it was time to replace it and bought this router. At first, our WLAN remained stable. However, after several days of stable operation, Wi-Fi began to disappear again. The connection dropped randomly throughout the day and at times it seemed to get worse. I thought it was our ISP but after several visits and discussions with the ISP I found out it wasn't the ISP. . These were both of my Netgear routers. To be sure, I did some research to find out what's going on and found that Netgear has had this issue for quite some time. This is due to their firmware for their routers. According to a certain version, this problem kept appearing and rearing its ugly head no matter what they tried to get rid of the problem. This has been an issue for several years (I didn't have this issue with my old router as I didn't update the firmware until late last year, which was around the time the wifi disconnecting issue started appearing). I've seen solutions to this problem, but that involved rolling back to older firmware versions, which I really didn't want to do. In the end, I settled on an Arris DG2470 cable modem with built-in WiFi. Suddenly, the problem of accidentally disconnecting WiFi is no longer a problem. This just confirms that Netgear still has an issue with their firmware. Don't get me wrong, this is a good router, but for me it's not worth dealing with constant random WiFi disconnects. If the firmware is corrected then there might be a good router out there, but other than that it sucks to me.
