I bought this to reduce the dirt sticking to my cat's paws. This works surprisingly well! Arrived well packaged and undamaged, but arrived folded and needed to be flattened a bit. The carpet itself is double-layered. The top layer consists of small holes made of hard rubber where the cat steps. The floor is a durable fabric mat to catch falling debris. At one end of the mat it is open between individual pieces of fabric and rubber, so all you have to do is open it slightly, tilt the mat, and then all the dirt will slide out. It's really adorable! I wasn't sure how much litter it actually picked up from my cat's paws as I was skeptical. Let me put it this way; There was trash in my bed, in my sink, in my bathtub, on the kitchen counters, a liter being dragged out of the room down the hall and everywhere. you know how it is Now with this rug I can't find trash anywhere! Like, nowhere! It really catches everything off your feet. I don't know how, but that's how it is. The carpet is easy to clean. I just wash it with soap and water, give it a good spray and then hang it to air dry. Now let me add this; If you have a cat or cats who like to take out the trash after work, this won't help. I am sorry. It catches anything that falls on the mat, but if you keep kicking it, the mat won't wipe it up on its own. Otherwise, I would definitely recommend it to any cat owner. I was blown away by this and having used other types of toilet mats I will not use any other!
