This bed extender is great. It's very well made and will definitely come in handy when you need a little extra length to lug something around. I highly recommend stuffing paper or a towel into the flashlight body when installing the locking nut, as there's a good chance you'll drop it if you have big hands. You can fish it out if you do, but it will most likely add time and frustration to your setup. It is mainly made of metal. The brackets are made of steel and the cage is made of aluminum. The cross braces are plastic but very strong and durable. I've seen people complain about the plastic parts, but I honestly don't think that's a problem at all. Also, you don't have to use the exact drill bit they offer. It's an odd ball size. As long as you use the one that's nearby, you'll be fine. This cage folds over easily, has straps to secure it to the tailgate during use and is also very easy to slide out in seconds if you need to take it off. You should keep the back door locked if you leave it installed all the time so it can't be stolen.
