This is more reasonable than a dress belt than a casual belt, although it's still too short - a few inches less than my other 38" belts. Husband. It also doesn't feel like leather - it looks like it's made of rubber, but for a casual look it can be cool. The buckle is made of super-heavy brass that can't match the feel of the belt's high-tech rubber. A silver buckle, e.g. a sash for a dress might work better if that's what you want to look like. It has a pressed texture on the back which makes me think it's reconstructed leather and not top grain. There is no other indication that it is leather - neither the texture of the skin nor the smell of the skin.
