After a little practice it worked very well!
Friends had wine they didn't want to drink so we could use it if we wanted as the corks were dry. After trying a regular corkscrew (disaster) I bought this one. It took a partially successful attempt to succeed a second time. The trick is to insert the pins into the bottle as deep as you can without pushing the cork too deep.
