I am very satisfied with this device. The frame and levers are metal, the positioning knobs are metal screws with plastic handles. It comes with a laptop stand and 3 sizes of cell phone/iPad holders. Processing and assembly details are first class. I am currently using the largest phone/ipad holder to hold my knitting tablet so I can knit and look straight at patterns. But I can put my iPhone and Kindle Fire on it. And I think a laptop stand would work well for my clipboard too. The flexibility of different device holders makes this more than just a one trick pony! The stand is very stable but if I were to use it to hold something heavy like a laptop I would of course orient it so that the weight is on my feet for the most secure position.
