It is what it is, a cheap carburetor, but you have to know what you're doing to handle it. Don't get me wrong, my 400EX is working great now, but I had to take it apart and put it back together properly. First, none of the injectors are marked with a number. So replace your original injectors or replace them with what you need. The main jet depth adjustment nut was above the plastic splash guard (to hold it?) for some reason. Then at the top where the bypass vent hose attaches to the top plate, it was attached to the wrong screw, so it was twisted, I moved it to the correct screw. That and the twisted vent hoses you had together had to act subtly, but it wasn't too bad. Finally there was the fuel hose, as I saw in another review, the notch on the carb is too big because it has a fuel filter basket, I improvised, took a .223 case, cut off the front cone and just cut it off in front on the rim and used it to connect a piece of transparent 3/8" nylon tubing about 1" long (cheap nylon tubing isn't afraid of fuel, it just hardens over time)
