First of all the knife as supplied could not be used for skinning. I appreciated other reviews that highlighted the need for proper blade finishing and sharpening. After honing the rough concavity, sharpening at a 14 degree angle and polishing the flat side, the blade is ground and will now do a very good job. The handle needed a little contouring and smoothing, hand stained and rubbed with polyurethane and is now in service. Think of it as a heat treated piece of raw material with a handle attached and you'll be happy. For the price, no one should complain.
