The Pierside Quiksilver Men's Straw Sun Hat has a hole at the top (see first photo). The straw was very dry and brittle. There was no damage to the packaging, so I think this damage occurred before shipping. I love the cowboy shape of the hat and the tie is beautiful with a lovely pearl. It wasn't until I took the hat out of the box that I heard the straw snap. I've sprayed it inside and out a few times with Old English Lemon Oil Furniture Polish, 12 fl oz bottle (from hardware store) and at least I can pick it up and carry it without breaking it (see second photo). ). The oil penetrates the straw, moistening it and making it more flexible. Someone who works with straw hats, baskets, or wicker furniture may have a better solution. It is not acceptable to repair a brand new item. At least I benefit from it.
