My original order never arrived, it somehow got lost in transit. Tracking showed it was Out For Delivery, 24 hours later and no package I called Revain customer service. They were very helpful and re-ordered - overnight delivery. The reissued order arrived as promised. These kits are of good quality and precise workmanship. They contain everything I needed to repair carburetors on my 1996 Johnson FastStrike 175. You will need one set per carburetor (six sets for a V6 engine). Installation is fairly easy for a person with sufficient mechanical skills. Expect around 4 hours. No need to take the boat out of the water unless you have mooring issues. Tools Required: - Phillips #3 screwdriver - Flathead screwdriver - Small and medium - 3/8" socket, 1/4" drive - Short 1/4" drive extension - Ratchet wrench with 1/4" Drive - Pointed pliers - Silicone lubrication (dielectric grease) - Pen knife - Couplings Procedure: - Disconnect the battery! - Remove the fuel line from the squeeze ball. Collect the fuel in a small container. - Remove engine cover. - Remove the airbox (4 straps and two rubber hoses). - Note the location of the carburetors so you can install each carburetor in its original location. (This may not be necessary, but it can't hurt!). My numbering scheme was: #1=top left, #4=top right in retrospect. You can identify each carburetor by a cardboard tag attached to the carburetor body. - Remove carburetor #1: Unscrew Phillips head screw, then unscrew the 4 fastening screws. - Disassemble carburetor #1 on the workbench. Check that the parts you received match your carburetor. If everything is in order, then: - Loosen the 4 fastening screws of the float chamber. If necessary, clean parts with methyl hydrate. Unscrew and remove the screw that secures the float valve assembly. Install a new small o-ring at the base of the nozzle. Remove the float valve seat. Install a new float seat with a new fiber washer. Install a new spring on the needle valve and float. Install a new swivel joint. If your original float seat had no washer installed (I had one), you will need to bend the stainless steel float shaft slightly to accommodate the extra thickness of the washer, secure it with pin cushions and gently bend it slightly. Check the position of the float with the valve closed - the float body should be parallel to the gasket surface (+/- 1/32"). Install the float valve shaft mounting bolt. Install a new float chamber gasket. Install the float chamber with 4 bolts and tighten them in turn .and install a new gasket on the side plate install a new o-ring in the place and place of the injector plug remove the bottom plate gasket and install a new one filling it with silicone grease ( this is important to keep the gasket from falling out when reinstalling the carburetor.- Back to the boat:- Remove carburetors 2 and 3.- Remove power tilt relay holder (two Phillips head screws and zip tie)- Remove carburetors 4, 5 and 6.- Carburetors reassemble as above.- Installation:- Start on the left hand side (seen from the rear) of the lower carburettor that the flange seal is lubricated with silicone grease. Install the carburetor carefully and secure it with a bolt. Install the remaining three screws and one Phillips head screw. Tighten the screws in turn. Remember that you will attach the plastic assembly with screws. You have removed the "extrusion" from the bottom panel gasket and tightened the bolts evenly. A 1/4 ratchet will give you a good feel for that. Don't rush and don't hesitate! - Go to step 6 (bottom right, looking backwards), the most difficult. Rock it behind the fuel lines and wires. If you drop something, tilt the engine up so you can pick it up. - With all the carburetors installed, it's time to connect the fuel line. - Suction (primer ball) and check for leaks. - Reconnect the battery and start the engine. - If everything is in order, reinstall the bracket for the electric tilt switch and secure it with two screws and a new cable tie. - Install the airbox - Install the engine cover - Remove the test run and check for leaks again - Relax and enjoy the beer!
