I installed this mini float valve on my Keurig water tank to make it auto fill. This little valve works perfectly. The valve itself requires a 5/8 inch hole for the mounting shaft to pass through. I lightly drilled the hole with a step bit similar to the Vastar Step Cone Bits, HSS, 10 Pitch 1/4" to 1-3/8". They are great for cutting holes in thin plastic as they progressively cut a hole in the plastic with very little stress. You tighten the valve body with a plastic nut that compresses the silicone on the inside and the hard plastic washer on the outside. This keeps the tapped hole in the valve open. After wrapping a long piece of teflon tape over the thin threads of the 90 degree elbow (I had to do this three times, increasing the teflon each time until the threads stopped leaking), screw the elbow into the valve body. I stopped when my knee was rotated back. At this point you can fully insert standard 1/4 inch polyethylene tubing into the elbow. If you need to adapt to 3/8" hoses, you still need a short 1/4" hose to use the included adapter/socket 1/4" x 3/8". I didn't need this. You really only need 1/4" hose to feed into the reservoir, as you only top up the 10 ounces of water used to make one cup of coffee after each brew. All you need is one trickle. But the valve immediately fills the tank almost completely. I highly recommend installing the main valve further down the line before the float valve. This allows you to shut off the water if you need to clean it or descale the coffee maker or limit the flow of water to others "Way to stop b an older coffee maker that I fitted with a different float valve. The water comes from our reverse osmosis system, which supplies water to the sink and refrigerator for the ice maker. A stainless steel screw allows the plastic knee joint to adjust the float to the desired water level The float fits easily into my custom Keurig, leaving about 1/2 inch on either side of the S swimmers as it moves up and down the water surface. The advertised dimensions of 45mm in diameter and 74mm in length appear to be accurate. I put a piece of tape on the lid to secure the lid to the tank. When someone removes the cap, they use it to pull the valve out, the float lowers, and water flows. It is best to attach the lid to the tank with a piece of tape. My previous mini float valve has worked flawlessly for over ten years. I only removed it because the coffee maker was out of order and its design required a float mounted on the back of the tank. This valve must be inserted from above. The valves are very simple, with no parts susceptible to corrosion. I hope to get the same service from this valve.
