Review on adidas Adizero Boston 10: Unleashing Your Speed and Endurance by Russell Ross

Revainrating 1 out of 5

A complete redesign was unnecessary and the shoe lost its soul. I left you Boston after 20 years.

I've run Boston in all of its iterations for the last 20 years and this is only the second time I hate them. I bought my first Adidas Boston 2001 for the wide toe box, neutral ride and lightweight feel. Everyday sneakers with the soul of a marathon. Boston 2 was a redesign and it sucked so they went back to the classic. From the Boston Classic to the Model 6, they've been great, including the addition of Boost foam and a woven upper. The 7 and 8 were ok but the torsion plastic on the outsole only started to wear through the Continental rubber halfway through the life of the shoe. Last year's Boston 9s were fine, but the flimsy rubberized tongue was sharp and chafed my ankle, so I put on larger socks but did dry off. Which brings us to Boston 10 2021: bah! It looks and feels terrible with a multi-panel upper and puffed bottom, both of which have been unnecessarily completely redesigned. It felt like running on marshmallows rather than good, responsive running shoes. I guess they wanted an intense Hoka vibe or something, but that loses the point of the shoe. I returned them and got some Saucony Freedom 4s that look more like Bostons than real Adidas.
