My 25 year old two story panel home is less than 1,400 square feet. In the attic there is a ventilation and air conditioning system. Humidity is a problem in summer and has reached 70% in the past. I learned that it is dangerous for the structure of the house and human health. I found this unit on the 2021 Energy Star list of Most Efficient Dehumidifiers. Its efficiency of 1.9 is one of the highest for a freestanding dehumidifier. Despite having less than 3,000 square feet, I needed a device that would work efficiently and quickly to keep the humidity levels in my home down. The safe level for the summer is 50-55% and this device quickly reached it. I placed it down near the stairs in the open area. It is in the same room as the downstairs HVAC return, and the upstairs return is offset from the top of the stairs. It worked incredibly well and affected my entire home including the two upstairs bedrooms with the doors closed. I tested its effectiveness by taking a small hygrometer to different rooms and monitoring the humidity levels on my thermostat. I unpacked and hooked up this dehumidifier on May 25th. After a few hours the air became drier. I kept it on turbo for the first few days. As a result, I emptied the bucket 2-3 times a day and saw a rapid decrease in overall moisture. The only downside to this and all other dehumidifiers is that it generates heat, especially in turbo mode. Once the humidity level in the house reached 55% or less, I turned off Turbo mode and manually adjusted the unit's level to keep it in the desired range. On low humidity days, I switch them to "Comfort” mode. To be honest I liked this device so much that I convinced my mom to buy it for her old house.
