Not much is appreciated these days, but this is an exception. They are made in Malaysia from solid wood. They weigh 13.2 pounds. built. I like the wooden seat as opposed to the fabric upholstered versions. To get some comfort and extra height we only use seat cushions. They replace table chairs as they just aren't tall enough to get the right height. The pillows are great. We use the same type of cushions as for outdoor chairs. They are thicker and more comfortable. The way they are assembled with bolts and screws is actually stronger than the chairs that used to be assembled. I received two extra bolts/screws/washers. I bought a dining table and chairs very similar to these and assembled the same way, but these chairs are half the price of this one. We thought these chairs should be shipped with UPS instead of USPS due to the weight. Great chairs! After using them for a while I lowered their rating a bit because of one thing that keeps them from being perfect. The lower crossbar on the chair back is too low, touching the back in the sacroiliac region. Most modern furniture is designed not for comfort but for looks. A comfortable chair allows your back to recline, which supports your upper back, resulting in a comfortable position. I don't actually mind because I tend to lean forward a bit without leaning against the chair. I thought about trimming the bottom bar flush, but the other half would be really crazy, best avoided.
