I bought four of these. After a few weeks, two of them stopped working. I returned them and put them on (they are PITA as they are attached to a small rope otherwise they just break) and they are external. There's more lavash in the gazebo. The solar panels must be on the roof, so this is only possible through an 8 foot access panel. Anyway, all 4 are installed, all 4 are working. I checked them several times at night over the course of a week or two. I always had to change the setting on the remote to always but all 4 turned on and all 4 worked. Then after they were turned off (but fully charged in the sun, LOTS of sun right around the summer solstice) none of the four turned back on at all. It's not just that the remote didn't work - I mean I climbed stairs in the dark, opened it up, turned it on and off manually, tried batteries, manually changed modes and tried the remote on all 4 less than 1 foot. These are just low quality headlights, they will fail - maybe a couple of days, maybe a couple of weeks - just to be filled with a clean dump. Avoid.
