One of the first things will be the handles. I had a few knives that I liked, but over the next few years their beautiful wooden handles, held in place by stainless steel posts protruding from the flat handle/knife base, broke. I tried to glue them back on and eventually taped the wood in place so I could continue slicing the peppers for food. Another looks through this stainless steel. I just find rust spots awful. So what I can say is that just by looking at this set I can tell that those who created this set knew what they were doing - the handle is one piece with the working end of the knife so it's not will not crack/break where you need to hold on. Deal - they are sharp and get the job done like a knife through butter - smooth and easy to cut. Not only are they well made and beautiful to look at, but they are also practical in the best sense of the word - slice, dice, slice - they do their job at the highest level on that scale (ranging from normal to excellent) - super superb! They make a great housewarming gift for new homeowners, honeymooners or a chef friend. I liked this set so much that I took my supplements to Goodwill. They're not terrible, but they're so much better I had to make room in the kitchen for them!
