Revainrating 5 out of 5

Unique, fairly well thought out and cheap. Buy it.

***EDIT*** This review is for the portable version of this product. I don't know where the list went? I chose this low to mid range soldering kit after sifting through dozens of duplicates of the same product with mixed reviews. It was the only portable device I could find other than the handle on top of the device. A few things struck me from the start. The brain is plastic and very light. The buttons for setting the temperature skip numbers very quickly, which I like. I'd like a Fahrenheit option, but that's a small price to pay. The cable connectors on the bottom appear to be a bit loose, probably just attached to the circuit board and not the case itself. I also wish the connectors had some sort of cover because they give you a slight buzz when you touch the pins. The instructions come in Chinese and a bit confusingly in English, but are intuitive enough to get the hang of in 5 minutes. Finally, you might consider modifying the brain box to have rubber or velcro feet, or maybe even some kind of hanger. The cables appear to be rubber. The soldering iron's rubber grip conforms well to the body and is comfortable, unlike many cheaper soldering irons with loose plastic sockets. The tips of the soldering iron cover the heating element instead of being screwed into the body like most beginner soldering irons. This leads to very good thermal conductivity; the thing rises pleasantly quickly to its melting point. There are different types of tips, but the thin tip that appeared on the iron, most likely, will remain there for a long time. He's handsome and thin. The iron holder appears to have a few holes in the top for storing tips. The supplied sponge is small and cheap, which is not surprising. You'll want to replace it pretty quickly. The heat gun is pretty standard. It heats up quickly, has no extra handles, and a pretty fiddly connection with weak magnets in the base that shut it down. I think adding a rare earth magnet inside the holder will solve this problem. He works quietly. This kit includes replacement heaters and tool tips, tweezers and IC strippers. IC pullers appear to be designed to slide under the feet of surface mount components like a forklift. I was lucky enough to get two of everything in the kit. I suspect the company feared damage to the packaging and proactively replaced the parts. I'm a lucky tourist. Five stars for a cheap but well made product that perfectly meets my need for portable tools and has many additional features.
