Looking for a quieter filter for our 10 gallon aquarium I came across the Hygger Aquarium Dual Sponge Filter. We tried three different overhead filters (HOB) and found that they were all too loud or bulky. Advantages of this filter: . None hang outside of the tank as the filter is held in place with suction cups.* Requires no power source other than your air filter. It's a really smart design, you just connect a standard bubbler hose and it offers both filtration and ventilation. I have a splitter and was also able to create a small jet of bubbles to decorate the volcano in our aquarium.* Easy cleaning, you just take out the sponges, rinse well and wring them out and change them about every six months. * Calm. This filter is as loud as your bubbler, so choose the one you like. We use Tetra Whisper, which is typically quieter than a fridge. The only time I hear a noise is when the fridge compressor is off.
