I am new to calligraphy thanks to a gift with a quill. While it's nice, it's not recommended for beginners like me. The book on getting started with calligraphy inspired me to start with brushes and Revane chose her. Bad choice Revane! I was thrilled when I opened the package and found that this item says "Pioneers of Calligraphy" on the outside. I trained hard and it was terrible. 2 weeks until I finally realized it could be the pens themselves and not my lack of artistic ability to create monsters on my paper. I ordered some inexpensive basic calligraphy pens and you know what? I learned the hard way that these brush pens are useless for this type of use.
