To level you must first be flat

Diamond lapping plates are expensive items, usually at least $100, very often over $300. This is usually because the companies that make them sell them as flat to within 0.005 inches, which is a complex and time-consuming process for diamonds glued to the plate. I bought this plate to use with a set of oilstones that I give to my cousin that I wanted to level before giving them to him for lapping plates as equivalent waterstones. However, upon receipt I found this item to be of great value bad quality; It consists of a set of 5 or 6 individual discs in a plastic case and I found they were far from flat with one of the discs sticking out. out of the allotted slot and very proud of the finish. For the price I was willing to accept a plate that wasn't perfectly flat but this item is so far from that I imagine the stones would be worse , if I would use them. Not even worth a meager amount to buy, not cheap like me.
