Works very little. Order 4 inches above your waist measurement.
Order 4 inches larger than your jeans/pant size. I comfortably wear a 34" waist size like a Levi's 550, so I ordered a 36" belt size as recommended, but I have to buckle it on the penultimate hole and it's still a bit tight.
