.No unless you have access to industrial grade plastic injection molding equipment. But I'll get to that in a moment. I (or my cats in this case) like to use the product for an extended period of time before writing a review. That way you'll know if it breaks or causes other problems. In any case, you can almost always give a potential buyer a more realistic assessment. In this case I didn't have to wait that long. Two of my 15 year old cats (one 9lb, one 15lb) began using this box within minutes of filling it with litter. Seven months later they are still using it with no problems. And the only complaint I can really think of is that I wish it was a little bigger. Not that the cats seemed to mind. it's strong It cleans easily. I can't imagine it ever breaking unless it fell off the back of a moving van and was hit by a car. no The reason I wanted to write a review was to refute the idea that you could buy a cheaper container like Rubbermaid or a smaller plastic box, cut a hole in the lid and voila! They have the same tray but $35 cheaper or something. Believe me. I did my best. It did not work. Here's my story: One of my cats is a tomcat who has developed an annoying habit of urinating on his usual low litter box. I've been thinking about getting one of those two piece jigs where the top overlaps the bottom and has a front opening, but figured if he sprayed water on the wall of the top the urine could still go down and down and run on the floor. . Or he can just urinate through the front opening. I spent $5 on a large plastic house bin similar to the Rubbermaid Roughneck and made out of a semi-flexible material that can be cut with metal snips so I didn't have to use a saw. I punched a hole in the lid, threw some trash in the box, and then patted myself on the back. Look how much money I've saved, I said to myself admiringly! In less than a year, I didn't feel so complacent. The box fell apart. A rib running around the top of the container to provide a seat and seal for the lid was torn from the box. And the daily experience of digging into the corners where cats always like to pee was painful due to the reinforcing ribs molded into the sides of this type of bin. From the outside, most of these inexpensive boxes look like they have rounded corners, but if you look inside you'll notice areas of reinforcement that interfere with the bucket's smooth movement in those places. If it was just a case of one falling apart box I would consider replacing it every year. But in reality, shoveling up turns was a real pain. Daily. The type of plastic used in the Clevercat and its thickness make it stiffer, stronger and smoother on the inside. It is easy to take out and easy to wash. And it doesn't retain odors like cheap flexible containers. My experience with my homemade tray was a perfect example of "smart for a dime and dumb for a pound". Everyone loves to save money whenever they can. On the other hand, I never blame a company for making a decent profit when they have a significantly better product. This is one of those cases.
