I like it better than filter socks, but it has a few disadvantages. I use them in my Monobloc JBJ 45. I was only going to put dental floss in them but they float. I put some Seachem Matrix on the ground, put the thread over the matrix and now they stay on the ground. It's better to just throw the floss away and replace it than cleaning your socks. My other issue is that the rims are smaller than the hole in my fish tank's 4 inch toe mounts. I had to use part of the plastic ring from a regular filter sock to keep the goggles from falling through the mount. Overall I love these filter cups and will continue to use them, but it took me a little effort to adapt them to my setup.
